Forgotten Mourners: Siblings Cope With Loss
NPR: All Things Considered, May 24, 2009
Listen to broadcast: Adults whose siblings die in war are sometimes forgotten mourners. Their grief may not be as visible as a parent's or child's. On this Memorial Day weekend, host Jacki Lyden visits with a group of people who've lost brothers and sisters to war, but also found community with each other. They met through an independent organization called TAPS Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors.

The Compassionate Friends Professional Service Award
The recipient of this award shall be a professional psychologist, counselor or other practicing professional who has contributed greatly in the areas of supporting, assisting or educating others in accordance with the mission and goals of TCF.
The Tucson Compassionate Friends chapter would like to recognize Melissa Goldsmith for her nomination for this very important award. She has contributed to our community by helping nursing students learn "the language of respect for grieving parents". She includes members of Tucson Compassionate Friends in her curriculum, which brings exposure to the group as a resource in the community, and also teaches "how nurses can impact families after the death of a child".
